Telecommunications Field Technician / Networking Technician

Junior Field Technician – based in Eastern Cape or surrounding areas:

Job Summary: 

The Senior Field Technician supports network infrastructure projects, installs and configures network equipment, and monitors network performance. This role involves responding to network incidents, providing end-user support, and conducting network assessments and site surveys. With a solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols, the Senior Field Technician collaborates with clients to meet their networking needs and provides training to junior staff. The position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to set up equipment for various events, ensuring high-quality network service and support.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

New Installs, Maintenance and Decommissions

  • Installation of L2 and L3 links.
  • Install and configure network equipment including routers and access points.
  • Attention to detail and neatness when installing internally or externally.
  • Completing decommissions and ensuring the client still has connectivity. Any issues to be communicated to the technicians manager.

 

Technical Support

  • Monitor sites installed and provide feedback to the technicians manager.
  • Provide support to end-users regarding network connectivity and related issues.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Perform network assessments and site surveys to identify issues and recommend solutions.

 

Customer Service

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their networking requirements and provide technical support and guidance.

 

Training and Development 

  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in network technology.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of bonding solutions and ability to set up equipment for events for small and large groups of users.

 

Documentation and Reporting

  • Technicians to complete and submit the checklist before asking NOC to check a site. 
  • Ensure the checklist corresponds to your configs and that all checks have been completed and not just ticked.
  • Technicians submit FSR after every site visit, ensuring accurate information has been documented.
  • Technicians are responsible for submitting their overtime in a timeous manner before the monthly deadline. 

 

General 

  • Stocks checks to be done weekly. Technician is responsible for having all relevant equipment before going to the site. 
  • Submit all Sims on hand by 08h00 every Monday
  • Vehicle checks to be done once daily when taking out a company vehicle.
  • Vehicles to always be kept neat, clean and tidy.
  • Posting of slips to be done daily with the deadline being 08h00 every Monday. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Being presentable to clients while wearing the appropriate clothing including company shirts, being neat and tidy.

    Aquaganics

    Organics (Aquaponics) Farm Manager

    Organics (Aquaponics) Farm Manager needed with experience in:

    1. Daily Operations Management: Overseeing tasks like fish feeding, water quality monitoring, and equipment maintenance.
    1. Staff Supervision: Hiring, training, and managing farm hands, technicians, and admin staff in line with company policies.
    1. Budgeting and Finance: Creating and overseeing the farm’s budget, managing expenses, and collaborating with the financial team.
    1. Marketing and Sales: Leading marketing efforts, coordinating with sales staff, creating campaigns, and fostering customer relationships.
    1. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring adherence to environmental and animal welfare regulations.
    1. Research and Development: Collaborating on innovative techniques to enhance farm efficiency and sustainability.
    1. Building Planning: Overseeing building projects, including metal work, engineering, and wet work, and ensuring quality control.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    – Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

    – Minimum two years of management or business experience on a farm.

    – Proficiency in farm infrastructure development.

    – Strong problem-solving skills and system improvement experience.

    – Precision-oriented with expertise in animal care, feeding protocols, and logistics.

    – Diverse skill set including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, welding, and building planning.

    – Preferably, experience in farm upbringing or prolonged work on a farm.

    – Ability to support administrative tasks, maintain records, and collaborate with various teams.
